Church Partnerships

What are church partnerships?

Church partnerships are a collaborative working relationship between my counseling practice and your church in which we join hands to care for your church members. The goal of church partnership is to provide excellent and biblically-faithful care so that God is glorified and people are truly helped.

“As the Counseling Pastor of our church, I have been referring women in our church to Laura with confidence and tremendous success since 2019. She is my number one choice for counseling for two reasons: (1) She uses a biblical counseling methodology and (2) with permission from the counselee, she keeps me up to date with progress reports so that we can work together to help the counselee. As a counseling pastor who is committed to God’s Word and caring well for God’s people, I highly recommend Laura to you!”

-Charlie Walter, Pastor of Counseling, Keystone Church (Paradise, PA)

“Pastors, having supervised Laura for a dozen-plus hours of real-life counseling and observed her A-quality Masters coursework, let me highly commend her to you. While God’s ideal involves pastors counseling their members and equipping them to counsel each other, if you need an outside counselor for your women, Laura can help you. She blends biblical wisdom, compassion and relational skill in ministering to people.”

-Robert D. Jones, DTheol, DMin
Associate Professor and Department Chair of Biblical Counseling

Why church partnerships?

Why do I as a counselor value working relationships with churches?

  1. I believe that the local church is vitally important for people to experience care and change.

  2. As a parachurch ministry, my aim is to support and strengthen, not take away from, the vital ministry of the church.

Why would biblically-faithful churches be seeking a counselor whom they can trust and refer to for counseling?

  • The church’s resources may be limited or overwhelmed

  • A pastor may not have the schedule availability to commit to longer-term counseling needs

  • A pastor may feel a counseling situation or issue is beyond his experience or giftedness

  • There may be situations where it is helpful or appropriate to have a outside party provide counsel

What I offer:

  • Biblically-grounded, clinically-informed and church-partnering counseling services for the girls and women of your church.

  • Regular communication and collaboration with your pastors, staff and lay leaders in the care of those you refer for counseling.

  • Assistance in church discipline issues or situations requiring a mediator.

  • Opportunities for biblical counseling training for your church leaders and lay people.

  • Consultation services for your church leaders regarding counseling related issues.

I started in private practice in Pennsylvania and have strong working relationships with several Pennsylvania churches, some of which I have been honored to work closely with since 2019. I am honored to continue my relationship with these churches and to continue to provide counseling services to them through remote counseling..
