Philosophy & Approach

Philosophy

As I have studied God’s Word and have walked alongside people who are suffering, God has grown me in the conviction that He really is the way to the deepest healing and help, no matter what the struggle or suffering. I have seen with my own eyes, people -whom the world would say are without hope for change- be radically transformed through the power of God and His Word.

For these reasons, I am committed to offering counseling that is distinctively Biblical in nature, meaning that my counseling is informed by a Biblical perspective of who we are as human beings, why we struggle and suffer, and how we can grow and flourish.

I am a partner with the Biblical Counseling Coalition and subscribe to the Biblical Counseling Coalition Doctrinal and Confessional Statements.

Approach

In general, counseling with me includes two main phases:

Phase 1- Getting to know you and understanding together

First I want to take time to listen to you, get to know you and understand your concerns. We will seek to understand how God’s Word describes and clarifies the nature of your struggle.

Phase 2- Engaging a growth process

Second, we will seek to identify the specific guidance and help God’s Word gives to you in your struggle. As your counselor, I will help you identify God's process of growth for you and will support you in walking out that growth process. I will provide you with personalized coaching, direction and growth exercises to engage in between our sessions. Your growth process will include not only what happens within our sessions, but what God does in you between our sessions!

Counseling via

Telehealth

I live and counsel out of Louisville, Kentucky. I offer telehealth counseling services through Doxy. Doxy is a HIPPA compliant audio/video platform designed specifically for professional counseling. I do not currently offer in-person counseling services.

Why Telehealth?

This mode of counseling offers counselees the comfort and convenience of receiving counseling from their home or private location. This mode of counseling may also be preferrable for those who are seeking Biblical counseling services and do not have access to Biblical counseling in a location near them.

What areas do you provide counseling services to?

I offer counseling services to all 50 states in the United States and internationally. I practice from the Eastern Standard Time Zone so appointments are scheduled according to EST.

Rates

Rates

I offer 80- minute counseling and consultation sessions. My rate per session is $195.* Counseling sessions are typically held every other week to help mitigate costs and to allow time to work on counseling homework between sessions.

*If this rate sounds expensive to you, I want to assure you that this rate is actually comparable to and in many cases below the market value of counseling for counselors of my training and experience level.

Payment

Payment is due prior to each session and is taken online through Square using your debit or credit card. You will receive an electronic invoice before each session, prompting you to make an online payment.

All major credit cards, debit cards, and Health Savings Account cards are accepted.

I do not participate in any insurance plan. You may inquire of your insurance company if they will reimburse you for any portion of “out-of-network” benefits.

Financial Support

If the price of counseling is significantly beyond your budget, I encourage you to contact your pastor or the person in charge of the mercy ministry at your church to see if funding is available to help cover the cost (it often is).

Cancelation

My cancelation policy is that you provide at least 48 hour notice or 2 full business days notice should you need to cancel or reschedule. If you do not show up for your appointment, or do not provide me with at least 48 hours/ 2 full business days notice of cancellation, you will be charged in full for your scheduled session.
